Opencast Mining

Greenfields Development

  • Site Preparation: Our team manages the full process of developing new mining sites, from clearing the land to preparing it for mining operations.

  • Access Roads and Infrastructure: Construction and maintenance of access roads to enable safe and efficient access to mining areas. We also build temporary infrastructure as required, including offices, workshops, and storage areas.

Stripping of Overburden

Stripping of Overburden
  • Topsoil Stripping: The first step in preparing the land for coal extraction involves the removal and stockpiling of topsoil to be used later during rehabilitation.
  • Stripping of Soft Overburden: Using large excavators and dozers, we remove the softer layers of overburden (soil and loose materials) to expose the harder rock layers beneath.

Drilling and Blasting of Hard Overburden

  • Hard Overburden Drilling: For more challenging materials, we perform controlled drilling of hard overburden layers.

  • Blasting: Our team carries out controlled blasting operations to break the hard rock, enabling it to be efficiently removed and hauled for further processing or disposal.

Loading and Hauling of Overburden

Loading and Hauling of Overburden
  • Excavation and Loading: Using high-capacity excavators and loaders, we excavate the blasted overburden and load it onto haul trucks for transportation.
  • Hauling: The overburden is transported to designated disposal areas or waste dumps, ensuring minimal disruption to the overall site operations.

Drilling and Blasting of Coal

  • Coal Drilling: We conduct drilling operations to prepare the site for blasting the coal seams.

  • Coal Blasting: Controlled blasting of the coal seam is carried out to loosen the material, making it easier to load and transport.

Loading and Hauling of Coal

Loading and Hauling of Coal
  • Excavation and Loading: After blasting, coal is loaded using high-efficiency equipment such as hydraulic excavators and front-end loaders.
  • Hauling to ROM Stockpiles: The coal is then hauled to the client’s Run-of-Mine (ROM) stockpiles for processing
